ATTORNEY LAWRENCE P. McKAIG

Grand Rapids Attorney

Larry took his undergraduate degree at the University of Detroit and his Juris Doctor Degree at the University of Detroit College of Law.

He is a believer in, and a regular participant in continuing legal education, and attends many seminars in order to keep abreast of the ever changing laws that govern us. He is a member of a small group of lawyers who are sometimes asked for suggestions about subject areas for future seminars.

Larry has been in the practice of law since 1973, when he was honorably discharged as a commissioned officer in the United States Army. He then served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Delta County, Michigan, in Ionia County Michigan, and finally as the elected Prosecuting Attorney for Ionia County.

He then served as Probate Judge until leaving that office to enter private practice. He has served as a member of the Ionia County Intermediate School District Board of Education, as a member and Chairman of the Ionia County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, and is currently a member of the Sparrow Ionia County Hospital Foundation Board, of which he is the vice chairman.

Larry has secured major recoveries for injured workers and for those injured in auto accidents for many years, and has secured some of the largest verdicts in this circuit in many years. He is as at home in front of a jury, as he is in front of his fireplace, and takes a very personal interest in the matters he takes to court.

Larry has a special interest in and devotes a significant portion of his practice to Workers' Compensation matters and has been very successful in insuring injured workers receive all of the benefits to which they are entitled. He also has a special interest in automobile injury cases.

He believes that injured people should be made whole and their rights need to be protected so they are not taken advantage of by the insurance companies and their armies of defense lawyers.

When he is not practicing law or spending time with his wife Darlene, or his children or grandchildren, Larry enjoys fly fishing, pheasant hunting, recreational boating, and playing the guitar in a rock band called Live Bait.
